Do you work for free? Have you worked for free? Will you ever CREATE work for free? Should you or should you not?
In an interview that streamed live on @thefuturishere@thefuturishere Youtube channel on March 14th, 2019, @garyvee recently said that there is, " Too much audacity in the creative field. I have worked for free and continue to work for free. I'll give a speech for free even though I get $200,000 if it's good for my brand or my business. There's too much ideological audacity from designers, videographers, that if you work for free, you're not getting your worth. IT's bullshit. It's a very important debate, in the industry because, when somebody says well, I'm not getting my worth...The market decides. Of course, you're not going to do anything for free if you've got 400,000 people lined up paying you 20,000 dollars to paint. But if you have nobody shouldn't you maybe paint for somebody who is going to give you a lot of exposure so that you can paint for somebody else? There is a lot of ideological audacity in the creative field. This is not a razz, this is a please debate that...Now, doesn't mean do sh** for free, it means that if you ask 98 people to the videographer for, paint for, design for and they all say No, maybe it's time to do something on spec." (Speculative work to showcase what you can do, and want to do.)
How does that make you feel? What does that bring up for you? Let's start a discussion.
